During February half term, 18 of our Y8 and Y9 students went on a French trip to Maison Claire Fontaine in Burgundy. The students stayed in an activity centre in the heart of the French countryside. Each day they did a wide range of activities including archery, circus skills and tree climbing, French cooking, and buying food from a traditional French market – all in French! They had lessons in the morning to learn the language and grammar needed to interact with French people and talk about the activities without using any English. The students sampled traditional French food such as local cheeses, Dijon mustard and even snails! On the final day the students went to the local town of Beaune where they visited a famous hospice and a mustard factory. Students made a lot of progress with their spoken French, which was fantastic! The Maison Claire Fontaine Ambassadors for the week were Arash and Yousaf for their outstanding effort in speaking French and for their enthusiasm in the activities and Louis won the archery competition for popping all the balloons – bravo!
