CCF Goes Global with Turing Scheme Project!

Connecting Through Languages (CTL) is the name of our new Turing Scheme student exchange project, which will enable 60 pupils and 12 staff members to visit Mexico, France and Taiwan this academic year.

The Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department is thrilled to announce their emphatic success in securing a grant from the Turing Scheme, a UK government-funded programme which aims to foster international partnerships between British schools and educational institutions worldwide. We are delighted to have been awarded this grant, which will enable us to organise and fund hugely enriching educational trips for our pupils to the three target language countries we study here at CCF. This ambitious project marks a significant milestone for our school as we endeavour to give a significant boost to the provision of modern languages and turn the MFL department into a vibrant hub of international activities. Our aim is to create an immersive and dynamic environment that fosters cultural understanding, linguistic proficiency, and cross-cultural collaboration, which will in turn, help us educate and nurture the global leaders of tomorrow.

Mexico - October 2023

During the October half term, a select group of incredibly fortunate Year 11 and 12 pupils will embark on an exciting 8-day trip to Merida, Mexico. Pupils will have the unique opportunity to visit and immerse themselves in the vibrant culture of Yucatan while in the company of their host partners from the prestigious Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán. Some of the activities will include day trips and visits to some spectacular sites such as the Mayan Ruins, preparing costumes for the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festival to mention just a couple. Preparations are now well under way and the excitement is building up!

In April 2024, another exciting adventure is planned for another group of Year 10 pupils studying GCSE French. They will embark on a week-long trip to Paris, France, where they will have the incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in the language and culture of this iconic city. During their stay, our pupils will be hosted by their peers from the renowned Ecole Hôtelière Jean Drouant de Paris, one of the top schools in France specializing in the catering and hospitality industry. This unique cultural exchange will provide our pupils with invaluable insights into the French culinary world and foster lasting connections with their French counterparts.

May 2024 half term, will see another group of Year 10 pupils studying GCSE Mandarin travel to Yilan City in Taiwan where they will spend the week with their Taiwanese partners from two local schools, Huey-Deng High School and National Yilan Senior High School.
