A Level Results 2020

CCF Sixth Formers lead the way with ambitious plans for the future

It has been a quite fraught conclusion to a pressured year for our A level students but we are really proud of the resilience and humour with which they have managed the national issues with the issuing of A level results which they have worked so hard for.

However this hasn’t stopped their incredible success stories and aspirational plans for the future, with a significant proportion of the cohort gaining places at top universities across the country. Destinations include: Oxford, Imperial College, UCL, King's College, Queen Mary's, Bristol and Birmingham.

This year brings some excellent student outcomes which reflect the dedication of students and staff and which, once again, have ensured that students have been able to take up the fantastic university and employment opportunities that they fully deserve.

CCF Sixth Form firmly believes that its role is to ensure students have the best chance to prosper in the modern world. The broad and inspiring curriculum ensures every student has the opportunity to follow the pathway that best suits them.

Head of Sixth Form, Daniel N commented:

We work tirelessly to provide our students with an inspirational learning environment where they can flourish and start to shape their own successful journey. Our pathways allow a bespoke journey for each individual to explore the options for the next stage of their life whether that is university, an apprenticeship or straight into the working world. Each student has faced obstacles and challenges along the way but in true CCF spirit, they have persevered – and I know this resilience, work ethic and determination will stay with them for life.

Samson Olusanya, Headteacher:

It’s fantastic to see our students for the first time and hear them excitedly talking about their future plans. Even through these unprecedented times, our students have risen to the challenge and we could not be prouder of each and every one of them and their achievements. We look forward to sharing in their future success and wish them the best of luck in their next endeavours.

There have been some outstanding individual performances in a variety of subjects, including:

Luke is thrilled with the level of support he received to achieve his phenomenal results: A*A*A*A*. He was delighted to accept his place at the University of Oxford to study Chemistry. Luke would like to thank the CCF teachers who go above and beyond to assist their students in not only their academic studies, but also their wellbeing.

“It’s a dream come true to study Chemistry at Oxford. I eventually want to move into research and medicine. I have always been passionate about helping people and hope to one day give back. I can’t imagine accomplishing everything I have without being at CCF. It’s a small sixth form, so every teacher knows who you are and what you need – they are truly exceptional, and the level of support is more than I could have ever dreamed of.”

Anne was ecstatic to discover that she secured a place at her first choice university, Birmingham, to study Biomedical Science. She attained superb results in her A levels (AAA) and is now delighted to be able to follow her dreams into the world of medicine.

“Attending CCF has helped me to progress to the next stage because the teachers are so encouraging, the learning is personalised, and the teachers and support teams become your family. It is a unique place to study where everyone truly wants each other to succeed and be pushed and challenged to be the best versions of themselves.”

Junaid is looking forward to his future at the University of Bristol University to study English, having achieved a brilliant AAA. His advice to younger students is to not waste any time when starting revision and always believe in yourself and what you can achieve. Nothing is out of reach.

“I can’t wait to study English at university because I’ve always been interested in public relations, thanks to some really positive work experience during my time at CCF. My dream is to work in the fashion or music industry. CCF has prepared me for this next chapter and I will always be grateful to the staff for their unrivalled support and reassurance in what was a very stressful and worrying time. They have been there for every student every step of the way.”

Natalie was delighted to have been accepted into Anglia Ruskin University to study Biomedical Science after achieving a fantastic AAB in her A Levels. Her advice to students starting their A Levels is to persevere and be independent. If this year has taught her anything, it is to prepare as early as possible and ensure that you ask for help and support when you need it. CCF staff are always available.

“I would like to thank the supportive staff at CCF. My experience would have been so different if I had stayed at my previous school. I have been challenged to think differently, whilst also supported to find other interests to complement my studies. The enrichment available at CCF has allowed me to develop other passions and skillsets, including being able to participate in multiple music productions which I have loved.”

With aspirations of a career in Microbiology, Dakol is one step closer after securing a place at the prestigious University of Cambridge to study Natural Sciences. Dakol secured an outstanding A*A*A and cannot thank the staff and students at CCF Sixth Form enough for making his time here such a memorable one. He praised the incredible amount of support that he received with his studies, personal development and university applications, commenting that he “really can’t overstate the importance of a supportive environment during times that will affect your future.”

I am grateful for my Chemistry teacher, Mr Payne, who helped me realise my love for Chemistry and always stressed the importance of critical thinking, logic and exam technique. He was such an influence on me throughout my 7 years at CCF. Being a relatively small Sixth Form meant there is a stronger sense of community and belonging at CCF. I have enjoyed all the time that I have spent with my friends, exploring and discussing things beyond the syllabus, not because it would help us academically, but because we were driven by curiosity.
