Transition

To welcome our new Year 7s, and to ensure that their transition from primary to secondary is a successful one, we have our unique transition programme that starts the moment your child is offered a place at CCF.

Transition from primary to secondary school can be an exciting time for many pupils. The opportunity to experience new subjects, new activities and make new friends at a bigger school is often met with great enthusiasm. At CCF we understand that whilst most pupils feel this way, some may feel nervous and anxious at the thought of starting at a new school.

That is why we have developed an extensive transition programme, to ensure all pupils feel supported in their transition process and that it goes as smoothly as possible.

Friendship Afternoon

The programme begins with our Friendship Afternoon in March to welcome new families to our school and ensure that we start to get to know your child long before they begin with us in September. Pupils take part in fun activities with their future peers while parents hear from our senior leaders and have a chance to ask questions.

Primary Visits

Our experienced team of staff visit the primary schools during June/July which is a great opportunity to meet the children in their own environment and a chance to field lots of questions they may have about starting.

Team Building Afternoon

In June, we host an afternoon of fun team building activities which provides another
opportunity for our new pupils to get to know their peers and teachers before Induction Day.

Induction Day

A full day filled with workshops, taster lessons and fun activities, providing pupils with an insight into what life will be like for them at CCF.

Activity Booklets

Over the Summer Term, pupils have the opportunity to complete an All About Me Booklet which allows us to find out more about them, their interests and hobbies, what they might be worried about and what they might be looking forward to at secondary school.

Over the Summer Holidays, pupils are asked to complete a Summer Challenges Booklet. This is an excellent opportunity to prepare our new pupils for their studies in September.

We have had fantastic feedback from parents and pupils and we believe this gives them a solid grounding in ensuring they are as comfortable and confident as possible as they embark on this new phase of their education. We are extremely proud of how well our new Year 7s settle into our school community.
