Transition & Induction

To welcome our new Year 7s, and to ensure that transition from primary to secondary is a successful one, we have refined, expanded and developed our Induction Programme.

Transition from primary to secondary school can be an exciting time for many pupils.

The opportunity to experience new subjects, new activities and make new friends at a bigger school is often met with great enthusiasm. At Christ’s College Finchley (CCF) we understand that whilst most students feel this way, some may feel nervous and anxious at the thought of starting at a new school. CCF strives to ensure all students feel supported in their transition process and that it goes as smoothly as possible.

Our extensive Induction Programme begins with our Friendship Afternoon in March to welcome new families to our school and ensures that we start to get to know your child long before they begin with us in September. Our experienced team of staff visit the primary schools during May/June, this is a great opportunity to meet the children in their own environment and a chance to field lots of questions they may have about starting. The Induction Programme includes many opportunities to come and visit the school before the start date including team building events, afternoon tea and our exciting Induction Day that takes place in July.

Over the summer, children have the opportunity to complete an English and 'All About Me' project. This is an excellent opportunity to prepare our new students for their studies in September and find out more about them. Find out more in our summer induction booklet here:

We have had fantastic feedback from parents and students and we believe this gives them a solid grounding in ensuring they are as comfortable and confident as possible as they embark on this new phase of their education. We are extremely proud of how well our new year 7s settle in to our school community. A confident and happy student is more likely to achieve his or her full potential, which is our aim as much as yours.
